Our metallic pigment paste containing 5,5 % linseed oil and an anti-settling agent tends to separate. Can you suggest a remedy?
There is a certain risk of separation attached to such pigment pastes because of the considerable differences in density between the metallic pigment and the film-forming substance, even if This separation probably takes place only gradually because of the relatively high viscosity of the linseed oil. This separation can be completely surpressed only by incorporating a suitable anti-settling agent.
Here, two or even several different stabilisers can completement each other synergistically. We would suggest any of the following substances stearate-treated calcium carbonate, castor oil derivatives, modified aluminium silicates and pyrogenic silica
