Separation of Gel Particles

Separation of Gel Particles

Is there an effective but simple method of separating gel particles?

Regular filtration is and remains the easiest, most effective and most economic method. If the particles are very small, the only other way would be to centrifuge the product. Here we refer, of course, to just the resin solution without any pigments or fillers. The greater the difference in density between resin and solvent, the greater will be the chance of success. Gel particles usually contain but little solvent so that they have a greater tendency to settle out.

lf this method should not prove satisfactory, the only alternative would be to use ultra-filtration, a complicated process which, however, is suitable for low resin concentrations.
