Advantages of Powder Coating

Powder Coating is a dry coating that is applied as a free-flowing, dry powder. The powder that is used is a thermoplastic or a thermoset polymer. The hard finish created is more tough than conventional paint.

This is generally used for metal coatings like "white goods", aluminum extrusions, automobile and motorcycle parts. Medium-density fiberboard is powder-coated by different methods. The powder is a mixture of finely ground particles and resin that is sprayed on the surface to be coated.

The charged powder particles stick to the electrically grounded surfaces till they are heated and fused into a smooth coating in a curing oven. Powder coating is the quickest growing finishing technology in North America and this represents more than 10% of all industrial finishing applications.

Advantages of Powder Coating

  • Powder coating provides consumers, businesses and industry a very economical, longest-lasting and very color-durable quality finishes.
  • These are very resistant to chipping, fading, scratching and wearing than other finishes.
  • Elimination of VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds) and reduction of wastes saves money and helps companies comply more easily and economically.
  • While liquid finishes contain solvents that have pollutants(VOC), powder coating contains no solvents and releases negligible amounts of VOCs into the atmosphere. Thus, there is no longer a need for finishers to purchase costly pollution control equipment.
