Antistatic paints in different colours

How can paints, pigmented in different colors, be made antistatic ?

Antistatic behaviour is connected with the paint's conductivity. Carbon black and graphite are normally used to make a paint conductive - but both are, of course, black. More effective, but also more expensive, are metals, especially silver. Here, there are many different chemical compounds which can be used for any colour because they themselves are practically colourless.

One could also perhaps use hollow microspheres which have been coated with copper or some other metal. Nickel coated graphite could also perhaps be used.
The antistatic effect achieved in any case also depends on the paint film thickness and even more on the number of coats that have been applied.

One can also, incidentally, produce antistatic primers. Information on the effectiveness of these additives may be obtained by carrying out electrical determinaations on the same paint but without antistatic additives.
