Acrylate Modified Alkyd Resins

Acrylate Modified Alkyd Resins

What possibilities are offered by acrylate-modified alkyd resins?

The possibilities are considerable since one can use the methyl, ethyl and butyl esters of acrylic and methacrylic acid. Alkyd resins specially recommended are those based on linseed oil, dehydrated castor oil, soya bean oil as well as on non drying oils. These produces are readily soluble in the usual solvents, but not in aliphatic ones. Air drying paints based on these binders may require the incorporation of suitable driers.
