Literature on Solvents

Literature on Solvents

Could you give me a few literature references on the subject of solvents?

There is a great deal of published literature on the properties of solvents suitable for use in paints and printing inks, mostly in the form of monographs and articles in technical journals. The following list is therefore necessarily incomplete and has been compiled more or less at random. A good overview of applications is given by "Organic Solvents", Techniques of Chemistry, vol. Il, by I.A. Riddick and W.B. Bunger, published by Wiley Interscience, New York. Another bookis "Industrial Solvents Handbook" by I. Mellan, published by Noyes Data Corp., Park Ridge, N.J., USA.

Infomation on toxicological aspects when using solvents is contained in "Toxicity and Metabolism of Industrial Solvents" by E. Browning, published by Elsevier Publishing Co., Amsterdam, Holland. Ecological questions relating to the manufacture and processing of paints and printing inks are discussed in the publication "Health and Safety, Environmental Pollution and the Paint Industry" by LO. O’Neill, published by the Paint Research Association, Teddington, Middlesex, England. The special attraction of this booklet is that it contains information on legal aspects.
