Darkening of White Paints

Darkening of White Paints

How can we prevent occasional darkening of paints pigmented with our white pigment pastes?

The darkening of white paints containing pigment pastes. Would seem to indicate insufhcient colour intensity during the production process. Normally, such conditions are relatively stable. in the present case, however, an increase in the degree of dispersion appears to have occured, which may be due to a change in the adsorption conditions at the pigment surface.
Here surfactant as well as resin or solvent molecules may participate.

To remedy the situation the grinding _ operation should be intensified, colour intensity being checked constantly. This should be saturated before the dispersion process has been completed.
Here it could be found that the saturation colour intensity is as high as that of the white paint which showed darkening. This would indicate that the amount of pigment paste used in the formulation could be reduced.
