Discolouration caused by TiO2?

Some of our paints, pigmented with TiO2, discolour on anodic oxidation. What causes this?

There are many hundreds of known types of TiO2, including many with modined surfaces. ln principle interference effects are possible with these varieties, although we do not know of any case of this. lt is probable that it is the binder which is discolouring rather than the titanium dioxide.
