Amino-fatty acid compounds

Can you give us any advice on the use of amino-fatty acid compounds

?

Among arnino-fatty acid derivatives the amino oleates have achieved technical importance in the formulation of paints, in that they can be used as corrosion inhibitors. They exhibit relatively pronounced chemisorption in iron surfaces, especially in the presence of sulphuric acid. The structure of such paint films depends on the type of amine and of fatty acid. Oleates with amines whose functionality exceeds two even form multi-layer protective films on the substrate.

The effect of triethanolamine oleates is also remarkable. In iron surfaces these are deposited in the form of vertically arranged molecule chains and the amine functionality can be utilised for crosslinking reactions. If compounds of this type contain a multi-unsaturated fatty acid, there will be other orientation possibilities. ln addition, fatty acid derivatives with a similar structure act as wetting and dispersing agents.
They include, for example, oleylamino oleates which are distinguished for their amphoteric character in wetting effects. They are among electroneutral substances for this type of application in paint formulations.
