Anti settling agents to improve the storage stability epoxy primers

What anti settling agents can we use to improve the storage stability of our industrial epoxy primers ?

There are a number of different products on the market which will prevent settling out in paints. One important factor to be borne in mind when selecting a suitable product is to know its possible side effects. Polyolefin-based products or those based on hydrogenated castor oil are, generally speaking, highly effective but the efficiency is affected by high temperatures.

A part from these, there are various other kinds of anti-settling agents which show good compability and effectiveness when used in epoxy paints. Inorganic products can be used universally and include bentone, ultra-fine particle silica or hydrates of alumina. Metal stearates are also highly effective, although sometimes not very easy to handle. Good result have also been obtained with stearate modified extenders such as calcium carbonates.

If one specific product is found not to be adequate, it can often be combined with another, so that greatly improved anti-settling effects can be achieved.
